Relaxed, Real, and Full of Love

When I arrive for your in-home newborn photography session in Maplewood, South Orange, or Westfield, I’ll start by checking the light and deciding where we’ll shoot. Light is everything in lifestyle photography—it sets the mood and brings warmth to every frame.

If there are older siblings, I’ll spend time getting to know them first. Maybe they’ll show me their favorite toy or proudly introduce me to their new baby brother or sister. Making them feel included and comfortable is key to capturing those sweet, candid moments.

How to Prepare for Your Lifestyle Newborn Session

The best photos happen when parents are relaxed and children are as well-rested and fed as possible. I know how unpredictable life with a newborn (and toddlers!) can be—don’t stress. I build in time for breaks, diaper changes, nursing, and cuddles.

That said, being ready before I arrive helps things run smoothly. If you're in the middle of getting yourself ready when I get there, no worries—I’ll start with the baby while you finish up.

Making It Fun for Older Siblings

Let’s talk cooperation. While small bribes (a sweet treat or fun toy) can work wonders, I recommend avoiding screens—phones and tablets often lead to zoned-out expressions or meltdowns when it’s time to put them away.

That said, I always come prepared with a backup plan. If needed, we’ll call in the big guns: Bluey! But only at the end!
